Four Rotary Engine Introduction

Mazda Four Rotor Engines

The four rotary engines are the most incredible of any of the wankels. The 4-rotor engine is dreamed about by most rotary engine enthusiasts but rarely attempted. It is extremely rare to ever see an engine of this caliber and much more unique than a 3-rotor 20B conversion.

Instead of the typical 2 rotor wankels, they have extended the eccentric shaft to fit on two additional rotors. For an increase of displacement, smoothness and power. The engine is then incredibly large, and unreliable for the average user.

This type of engine delivers extremely smooth power, even smoother than some 12V piston engines due to the addition of more rotors. Back in the Mazda Corporation had developed several three and four rotor engines for experiments. Although the extremely high costs and practicability reasons made them never produce a production version of the engine. They only developed the engines for some of their race cares, such as the 13J and the R26B racing motors.
