Blown Up RENESIS Side Housing

This engine comes to us from a RX-8 driver.  Although the driver did not run hard on the engine for some reason an apex seal broke and did a lot of damage to the side housings.  Normally in the case of a FD, or earlier engine with the rotor housing exhaust ports a broken apex seal wouldn’t cause this kind of damage.  But we think because of the side exhaust ports it is difficult for broken apex seals in the working chambers to escape because of the ports being located on the sides, instead of the rotor housing.
