Heres a rotor that had its apex groove smashed in!

Smashed Apex Groove
Although it is hard to see, notice that the apex groove has been smashed in. This is caused by debris in the working chamber that get caught and cycled around during normal operation. In this case, something large got in the chamber, and was trying to be pressed in by the rotary engine cycle. This leads to an almost worthless rotor. Despite the damage, it could still potentially be repaired, although the time that would be required far exceeds the cost of the rotor, making it a boat anchor!
