I have been doing some readin and I understand that if I advance the timing on my 1985 GSL it would improve hp.

I would have to agree with you on a fuel problem, but teh tank is realtivly new, and teh feul pump is new. Could it be perhapse a damaged fuel line or something like that? And if its a carburator issu ...
