Come on guys help me out here. also i have a technical q as wel. I am driving along in 3rd gear, and i decide to smoke a civic, then at 5500 rpms teh car just loses all its power, and moves in a very jerky motion. If I hold it for a while teh car eventualy shuts down. The car also misfires a fair bit when the choke is out, and the car is idleing. Recently the carb was rebuilt. I reinstalled it, and teh car was working great, and a few days ago this gremlin poped up. Anyone have any ideas?? I am thiking bad timing, or mabey a bad side seal or something??? somone help me out please. ( its an '85 gsl)

Sounds like a fuel problem. Have you replaced the fuel filter lately?

I still think it's fuel...any problems related to high rpm/load are suspect. Your fuel tank may have debris clogging the intake or your fuel pump is going south or your carb rebuild missed something or your fuel filter is clogged again (a dirty tank can clog them really quick). That's where I'd focus. It is also reinforced by that being the last area you worked on.

I would have to agree with you on a fuel problem, but teh tank is realtivly new, and teh feul pump is new. Could it be perhapse a damaged fuel line or something like that? And if its a carburator issue, whear would u recomend I start to look?

Not likely.

It might be worth while to swap on a known good carb and see if that solves your problem.

I see. Getting a known carburetor would be hard for me. Now I am pritty sure it is not teh carburetor, becuase after the carb was rebuilt she worked fine for a while, then just recently it started doing this funny buisness. I also noticed its a bit dificult to start in teh cold. Now the car only misfires when teh choke is out, when the choke is in she does not misfire so mutch. Also do u know an easy way to check if the fuel filter is clogged, or is there the intake is cloged, and if there are debris in the fuel tanks. Thanks alot.
