The 20B Series - 3 Rotor
Rotary Engine History
The 20B was formerly known as the 13G, although Mazda changed the name to 20B in November 1987 at their naming convention. The 20B, also known as the 20B-REW was a motor specifically used for the 1990-1995 Eunos Cosmo. This motor was boosted with a twin-turbocharger setup, similar to the one in the 13B-REW.
This engine’s displacement is much larger than the typical 13B because of the additional rotor housing. The 3 Rotor 20B had a displacement of 654 cc per rotor, for a total of 1962. IT used 0.7 (approximately 17psi) of boost in order to output 300 hp (224 kW) and 300 ft/lbf (402 Nm). During the years this motor was produced it was the highest torque output for any motor on the Japanese market.
