Here is a great 3 minute clip by the Mazda Corporation on the rotary engine. It has a great animation of the wankel motor, and it shows some breif history. It also has an extremely short, but good clip of the Mazda 787B and has some information about the current developments. It shows the challanges Mazda had when developing the engine, specifically the chatter marks on the rotor housings. They also called theses marks the nails of the devil, although they of course solved the problem, now the video is avaliable for your pleasure.
