Here is a video clip of a rotary engine display in action.
Two Rotors in Motion Video
Although this is not really an animation, its just as good as one. This wankel motor video realistically illustrates the cycle of two rotors in a rotor housing. Notice how each rotor offsets eachother which results in a smooth reving of the engine. With this video you are able to see how the two work together. This is a model set that you can purchase for yourself.
The intake and exhaust ports are on the right side of this engine block. You can see the opening/closing of the intake ports by looking at the cut out in the top right section of the rotor housing chamber. When you port an engine, you affect this port shape, which will make the intake flower more efficiently into the working chambers. This is why porting will increase horsepower, or if done incorrectly will ruin an engine.
